How to Have a “No Rides” Day at Disneyland Paris

Who says you need rides to have a magical day at Disneyland Paris?

Spoiler: you don’t.

Callum and I love rides, but we understand they’re not for everyone. My mum, for example, cannot stand them (though I once tricked her into going on Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril—her face on that first loop was priceless).

Growing up, we quickly learned how to enjoy Disneyland Paris without rides so she didn’t feel left out.

Here’s everything we picked up along the way—perfect for anyone looking to skip the queues, avoid the thrills, or just take the day at a slower pace.

Food to Enjoy on a No-Rides Day At Disneyland Paris

If food is the star of your no-rides day, Disneyland Paris has you covered. And the best thing about skipping the rides?

No risk of upsetting your stomach, so yes, that churro (or seven) is absolutely in order.

Here’s how to plan your meals for the day—don’t forget to book in advance for restaurants and character dining, as spots can fill up fast!

Morning

Start with a character breakfast at Plaza Gardens, where Mickey and friends pop by your table while you dig into pastries and eggs. It’s a relaxed way to kick off your day, especially if you like to ease into the magic with minimal effort (read: caffeine in hand).

Mid-Morning Snack

Waffles shaped like Mickey? Crêpes loaded with Nutella? Yes, yes, and yes. Grab one from a snack stand in Disneyland Park or Disney Village and fuel up for more exploring.

Lunch

Captain Jack’s – Restaurant des Pirates is the ultimate lunch spot if you’re in the mood for an adventure.

It’s set inside the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, so you’ll be dining under glowing lanterns while boats drift by. Bonus: no need to brace for drops when you’re safely eating on dry land.

Afternoon Treat

If you’re starting to feel peckish, Disneyland Paris has you covered with its range of seasonal snacks. Mickey cookies, themed cupcakes, or a specialty dessert that’s almost too pretty to eat (but not really)—there’s no shortage of options to keep you going.

Dinner

End your food-filled day with something special. If you’re feeling fancy, book Auberge de Cendrillon in Fantasyland for a princess-worthy meal in a regal setting.

Prefer something with a modern twist? Manhattan Restaurant in Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel serves up stylish dishes with superhero flair. Either way, you’ll leave happy and full.

Pro Tip:

If you’re planning to focus heavily on dining, it’s worth considering a Disney meal plan. Not only can it save you money, but it also takes the stress out of managing reservations and ensures you can enjoy the full Disney dining experience.

Disneyland Park Without Rides

Disneyland Park isn’t just about attractions; skipping the rides lets you slow down and take in the magic at a more relaxed pace.

Start with Sleeping Beauty Castle, where there’s plenty to explore. Upstairs, La Galerie de la Belle au Bois Dormant showcases stunning stained glass, while down below, La Tanière du Dragon hides an animatronic dragon that’s both eerie and impressive.

Over in Adventureland, Les Mystères du Nautilus offers an immersive walk-through experience inspired by 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Captain Nemo’s quarters, mysterious gadgets, and even a giant squid attack make it a must-see—no seasickness required.

Fantasyland’s Alice’s Curious Labyrinth is another highlight. This whimsical maze winds through quirky scenes before leading you to the Queen of Hearts’ castle, where the views of the park make the climb worthwhile.

While you’re exploring, keep an eye out for the 21 hidden secrets of Disneyland Paris. From window displays on Main Street, U.S.A., to Cinderella’s carriage tucked away in Fantasyland, these small details add an extra layer of magic to your day.

Parades at Disneyland Paris are a must-see, with vibrant floats and beloved characters taking over the streets. They change with the seasons, so no matter when you visit, there’s always something new to enjoy.

For a break from the hustle, catch The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands in Frontierland. With breathtaking vocals, choreography, and costumes, this show is worth planning your day around.

As evening falls, Disney Tales of Magic (launching January 10, 2025) takes over Sleeping Beauty Castle with dazzling projections, pyrotechnics, and a celebration of Disney stories that’s the perfect way to end your day.

And of course, you can’t skip character meet-and-greets. The Disneyland Paris app will help you find Mickey, Minnie, or even Maleficent for a photo or a chat— nothing says “best day ever” like meeting your favorite Disney character in person.

Walt Disney Studios Park Without Rides

If you’re skipping the rides at Walt Disney Studios Park, don’t worry—there’s still loads to do. Honestly, this park might surprise you with how much fun you can have just wandering around and soaking it all in.

Start with Mickey and the Magician. It’s one of those shows that reminds you why Disney is just the best at what they do. The storytelling, the illusions, the music—it’s all so well done that you’ll leave wondering why you ever bothered with rollercoasters in the first place.

Next up, Stitch Live! It’s clever, funny, and a little unpredictable—because, well, Stitch is running the show. He chats with the audience in real-time, which makes every experience a bit different. It’s especially great if you’re visiting with kids or just need to sit down for a bit (and trust me, you will).

The park itself is a treat to explore. The Hollywood-inspired sets are perfect for snapping photos, especially around the fountains and retro-style buildings.

Then there’s Marvel Avengers Campus, which feels like walking into a superhero movie. The Quinjet and Avengers HQ are iconic, and even if you’re not a Marvel superfan, it’s hard not to be impressed by how detailed everything is.

Toy Story Playland is another great spot to wander around, especially if you’re a Toy Story fan. The oversized toys make you feel like you’re in Andy’s backyard, and the colours and details are just so fun. It’s also a great excuse to take a hundred photos—it’s impossible not to.

And don’t forget to keep your eyes open for street entertainment. You might stumble across a spontaneous performance or spot a character wandering through the park. These little surprises are what make Disneyland Paris so magical.

So, even without the rides, Walt Disney Studios Park is packed with things to do. Between the shows, the theming, and all the little moments that catch you off guard, you’re in for a great day—no rollercoasters required.

Disney Village

Shopping in Disney Village is a must, and World of Disney is the ultimate spot for souvenirs. It’s packed with everything from cuddly Mickey plushes to Disney-themed kitchenware, so you’re bound to find something magical to take home.

The LEGO Store is another highlight, especially if you’re after Disney-themed sets or just love a bit of LEGO nostalgia.

When it’s time to eat, Rainforest Café is a fun choice, complete with a theatrical rainstorm every now and again to keep things interesting.

If you’re after a retro dining experience, Annette’s Diner looks like it fell straight out of Grease—think neon signs, classic burgers, and plenty of 1950s charm. For something quick, there’s even a McDonald’s right in the Village.

If you’re in the mood for something a bit different, Panoramagique is worth checking out. This tethered hot air balloon gives you incredible views of the parks and beyond, and since it’s stationary, you won’t need to worry about sudden drops or spins.

Enjoy The Hotels

Disney hotels are more than just a place to crash—they’re packed with magic and plenty to enjoy, even if you’re not riding rides.

At the Disneyland Hotel, soak up the luxury at the Fleur de Lys Bar. It’s the perfect spot to sip on a cocktail or a coffee while surrounded by elegant décor and a sprinkle of Disney charm.

Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel is another fantastic place to explore. Take some time to admire the impressive Marvel artwork in the hotel’s gallery, and if you’re feeling fancy, grab a drink at Skyline Bar, where the views are as cool as the Avengers themselves.

Even a walk along the lake that connects the various Disney hotels can be a lovely way to spend some downtime. The paths are peaceful, and each hotel has its own unique theme that’s fun to explore, even if you’re not staying there.

Bonus Tips for Your No-Rides Day

  • Plan with the Disneyland Paris App: Use the app to check character meet-and-greet locations, show schedules, and dining reservations. It’s a lifesaver for staying organized and making sure you don’t miss anything.
  • Wear Comfortable Shoes: Trust me on this one—comfy shoes are non-negotiable. My trusty Asics have seen me through countless Disney days, and I wouldn’t trade them for the world.
  • Arrive Early for the Nighttime Show: If you’re staying for the evening spectacular (and you should), grab your spot early. Whether it’s Disney Dreams! or a seasonal favorite, it’s the perfect way to end your day with a little extra magic.
  • Pack Layers: The weather can shift quickly, especially if you’re visiting in cooler months. A lightweight jacket or extra layer will keep you comfy as the day goes on.
  • Bring Snacks: Even with all the amazing food options, having a small snack in your bag can be a lifesaver if you’re waiting for a parade or exploring between meals.
  • Stay Hydrated: There’s a lot of walking involved, so don’t forget to drink water throughout the day. Refillable water bottles are handy, and you can fill them up at fountains around the park.
  • Take Breaks When You Need Them: There’s no shame in sitting down for a while to relax and people-watch. Disneyland Paris is as much about soaking up the atmosphere as it is about ticking off activities.

Why a “No Rides” Day Works

A “no rides” day at Disneyland Paris lets you slow down and see the parks in a whole new light. Without racing from attraction to attraction, you can take a step back and notice the details—like the hidden window displays on Main Street, U.S.A. or the way the castle gleams like something straight out of a fairytale.

It’s also the perfect excuse to enjoy shows like The Lion King: Rhythms of the Pride Lands or Mickey and the Magician. And let’s not forget the food—extra Nutella crêpes or Mickey-shaped waffles are practically mandatory when you don’t have to worry about what ride to hit next.

Disneyland Paris is proof that the magic isn’t just in the attractions; it’s in every step you take.

So channel your inner Simba and feel the love tonight, or embrace your Hakuna Matata mindset and soak up the day at your own pace. Sometimes, the quietest moments create the most magical memories.

At time of writing, there are currently no restrictions prohibiting visits to France. You can see more info on this at gov.co.uk.
